Toshiba Retail Enterprise Management Service (REMS) allows retailers to centrally manage, monitor and report status of remote, mission critical POS hardware, peripherals and software environment across retail stores.

For today’s retailers, understanding the status of all POS systems across all locations is crucial. Toshiba Retail Enterprise Management Service (REMS) enables POS system management suite across the enterprise. It allows retailers to centrally manage, monitor and report status of remote, mission critical POS hardware, peripherals and software environment across retail stores. Retailers need the ability to access the state of their POS system and associated peripherals to create cost efficiencies from managing at a central location and to maximize the productivity of both their IT and retail store associates. REMS provides this through industry-standard RESTful APIs, easy integration interfaces and modular retail management services. REMS connects to a large number of system management agents deployed at the store level and interfaces with these agents to provide management of the systems.

 

Toshiba’s POS systems are solidly configured to take advantage of powerful device management, monitoring and reporting through Retail Enterprise Management Service (REMS). System Management Agents are deployed at store level and enable management of the POS system through the REMS connection. The Remote Management Agent (RMA) General Agents are deployed on POS devices at a store level and aggregated by the RMA Master Agent in each store. The Master Agent then serves as a single point of access between the store devices and the enterprise (REMS). Retailers can take advantage of the retail systems management services using REMS and also integrate REMS through select Toshiba Partner dashboard providers to provide a customized systems management console. Design flexibility of that systems management console belongs to the retailer.

Store Management Service  Provides store connection management
related services like remote registration of stores, receiving store status, authorization of stores, store connection logs and other store connection-related operations. Enables a retailer to remotely see real-time status of their POS systems such as a terminal being offline or a new system installed and online.
Asset Inventory Service Provides capability to initiate asset inventory collection of retail hardware and software systems and receive inventory status and data. This data can be stored in the Inventory Database and allow retailers to query data as needed. 
Event Management Service Provides ability to subscribe and get system
events reporting from stores/POS systems. Increases the operational efficiency in store, reduces maintenance cost and ultimately increases store uptime by proactively monitoring events or potential hardware and software problems in store POS systems.
Power Management Service Facilitates power management of POS systems. As a retailer, power management of POS becomes an opportunity to reduce energy consumption and extend the life of systems by regulating and managing the time a system is powered on.
JMX Resource Invocation Service Supports triggering and monitoring of custom
events or actions on remote POS systems. Through a simple REMS process that exposes the powerful RMA product features for creating custom monitors and events for remote POS systems, a custom event can be created when a device attribute moves out of a set threshold. This delivers proactive alerts when a potential problem appears on POS devices.
